Four Nights. Two Islands. One Visionary Chef. Anantara Welcomes Two Michelin-Starred Kevin Romes to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan this July

This July, Anantara invites guests on a rare culinary journey across two of Thailand's most enchanting islands, as Chef Kevin Romes, the prodigious talent behind Switzerland's two Michelin-starred Skin's - The Restaurant, makes his Thailand debut with an exclusive four-night residency.

Sunday 8 June 2025 15:24

Taking place at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui and Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan, this intimate series will showcase Romes' refined, globally inspired style of minimalist gastronomy — a cuisine of precision, purity and soul.

At just 34, Kevin Romes joined one of the world's most elite culinary circles when he earned two Michelin stars in his very first year of opening — a feat achieved by fewer than a handful of chefs globally. In under two years, he also rose to 17 Gault&Millau points, affirming his status as one of Europe's most exciting and exacting young talents.

Having trained under culinary titans such as Johann Lafer, Richard Ekkebus, and Dieter Koschina, and honed his craft at the revered three-star ?berfahrt, Romes now leads a kitchen defined by craft, calm, and clarity. Every dish is a study in balance — where technique meets emotion and every element is deliberate. From the minimalist, design-forward interiors of a reimagined canning factory in Lenzburg, Skin's has captivated gourmands and critics alike. Now, for the first time, Romes will bring his extraordinary creations to Thailand, reinterpreting his menu with tropical flair and Anantara's celebrated sense of place.

Guests can expect a six-course tasting menu featuring standout dishes such as Beef Tartar with Wasabi Mayonnaise, a Kombu, Gazpacho of Wild Strawberries with Miso-Ginger Sorbet, and Shrimp with Jalape?o. Mains include a decadent Pork Cheek with Lettuce and Vin Jaune and Australian Wagyu with Kimchi and Leek, before ending on a vibrant note with Pineapple, Rocket and Melange Noir. To elevate the experience further, an optional wine pairing will be expertly curated by Khun Nuch, Anantara Siam, Bangkok's celebrated Head Sommelier and Tatler Thailand's Sommelier of the Year 2025.

"At Anantara, we believe in crafting extraordinary culinary journeys — and Chef Kevin Romes embodies that vision with his puristic approach, technical mastery, and unwavering attention to detail. His philosophy aligns seamlessly with our own: luxurious, thoughtful, and deeply attuned to place," said Thomas Boehringer, General Manager at Anantara Bophut. "As the Michelin Guide turns its gaze more intently toward Thailand's islands, we see this as an opportunity to redefine what destination dining can look like — setting new standards and offering our guests out-of-this-world gastronomic experiences that are as memorable as the landscapes themselves."

Chef Kevin Romes will appear at Anantara Rasananda on Thursday 17th and Monday 21st July and Anantara Bophut on Friday 25th and Sunday 27th July. The six-course menu is priced at THB 2,900++ per person with an optional wine pairing available at THB 1,200++.
